Before you hire any mason
Frequently asked questions
The questions homeowners actually ask, answered the way we'd answer them on your driveway.
What area do you serve?
Fairfield County and Greater New Haven, Connecticut. We're based in Shelton and work towns including Trumbull, Stratford, Monroe, Easton, Fairfield, Milford, Orange, Woodbridge, Derby, Ansonia, Seymour, Bridgeport, New Haven, West Haven, Hamden, and North Haven. If you're nearby and not sure, call. The answer is usually yes.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. TGM Construction Inc. (d/b/a Three Guys Masonry) is a registered Connecticut Home Improvement Contractor, and our HIC registration number appears in the footer of this site and on every contract as Connecticut law requires. We carry general liability and workers' compensation insurance, with certificates available on request.
How do estimates work?
Free, and in writing. Send photos and details through the estimate form or call us. We'll look at the job, talk through options and materials with you, and put a clear scope and price on paper. No pressure follow-up campaign. You get our number, you decide.
How far out are you booking?
It moves with the season, and spring fills fastest. Repairs and smaller jobs can often slot in sooner than full builds. Ask when you request your estimate and we'll give you a straight answer for that week, not a sales answer.
Do you do repairs, or only full projects?
Both. Repointing, step rebuilds, loose pool coping, sunken patio sections, chimney crowns: repair work is a big part of what we do. See our masonry repair page. We'll tell you honestly when a repair is the right scope and when it's throwing money at something that needs rebuilding.
What should I have ready for the estimate?
Photos help a lot: the area, the problem, and a wide shot for access. Rough dimensions if you have them. If you have a design or materials in mind, great. If not, that's what the conversation is for.
Do you pull permits?
When the work requires one (taller retaining walls, structures, and certain site work depending on your town) we tell you up front and handle the process. Permitted work protects you at resale.
Who actually shows up to do the work?
Our crew. Three Guys Masonry is a third-generation family company, established in 1987. The people quoting your job are the people responsible for it.
